Metaphysical Blues
By Bill Colgate

I got the Lord-have-mercies. I got the down-at-my-heels
The walkin'-the-floor, slammin'-the-door, nobody-knows-how-I-feels
Got the wastin'-my-time payin' my what-should-I-dues
I got the straight-out-o' luck, step-in-front-of-a-truck Metaphysical Blues

I got the why-why-me's the p-p-please-please-please
The yin and the yang, a mystical thang, drove me straight to my knees
I got a soul on fire somebody change the fuse
I got the wish-on-a-star, is-this-my-face-on-the-bar, Metaphysical Blues

To be or not to be is what I get what I see
It's all a mystery why is this happening to me
Is it a matter of fate or did I drink some bad booze
Are we all on our own somebody else drive home Metaphysical Blues

I got the straight-out-o'-luck, step-away-from-the-truck Metaphysical Blues
I got the wish-on-a-star, is-this-my-face-on-the-bar Metaphysical Blues
Do I dare eat a peach or is life just a beach Metaphysical Blues
Have I become such a bore in my own Elsinore Metaphysical Blues
